is a traditional Japanese treatment that uses a system of hands-on bodywork from head to toe. It is influenced by Chinese Medicine’s holistic approach and Western knowledge.
Key to this theory is the idea that the free flow of energy (called Ki) throughout the body is fundamental to wellbeing and health. You can think of this as the process of self-organisation of the body system. Shiatsu aims to encourage the energy to flow smoothly so that the body can systematically adjust itself towards health.
My primary aim in any treatment is to create a deep sense of relaxation.
This is to help the nervous system switch to ‘resting’ rather than ‘striving’ mode to combat stress and encourage the natural healing capacity of the body. This combined with your aims and diagnostic elements inform each treatment.
